This high carbon martensitic stainless steel has a high strength, moderate corrosion resistance and good hardness and wear resistance. After heat treatment, this steel is capable of attaining the highest strength, hardness and wear resistance of all the stainless alloys. This is due to its high carbon content. This makes 440C very well suited for ball bearing and valve parts.
